Plugin reload: Advanced noCaptcha & invisible Captcha is now CAPTCHA 4WP

When we first came across the opportunity to acquire Advanced noCaptcha & invisible Captcha (v2 & v3) last year, we quickly understood this plugin’s potential to elevate the CAPTCHA game for WordPress administrators and website owners. While we felt that the plugin needed some TLC that we were more than happy to put in, we also understood that it had the basics right.

In September of 2021, we completed the acquisition. The entire team rolled up their sleeves and got to work straight away, polishing infrastructure, code, support, and content. It was a significant team effort in which everyone participated and contributed.

Today, we share the fruits of that labor.

New plugin name

To commemorate the transition, we are renaming the plugin CAPTCHA 4WP. This name is not only more emblematic of the plugin’s capabilities and the plans we have for it but, as I’m sure you’ll all agree, is, let’s say, more accessible.

The new version has a revamped user interface that elevates the user experience. We re-designed the plugin in a way that it can easily accommodate new features we are working on while being easier to use and manage. We also overhauled the code, making it more reliable and easier to update as we continue to release new features.

Rest assured that CAPTCHA 4WP will not become a multi-use plugin. We want it to become the best CAPTCHA plugin on the market and will continue working hard to make this a reality.

New features & major improvements

Apart from the new name and logo, in this update we also included a good number of new features and major plugin improvements.

To start off with, this update features a completely new UI, which makes the plugin much easier to use and configure. The plugin configuration is also available via it’s own top level menu entry in the WordPress dashboard: CAPTCHA 4WP. Other noteworthy updates in this version update are:

  • A new setting to specify where on the WooCommerce checkout page should the CAPTCHA appear
  • Auto detection of website visitor language settings to automatically update the CAPTCHA language
  • Plugin can now be activated at multisite network level or at individual child-site level
  • Ability to whitelist logged in users, IP addresses and ULRs
  • A new dedicated page for help and support with downloadable “system information” for easier troubleshooting and more efficient support

For more information and a complete list of what is new, improved and fixed in this update of the plugin refer to the plugin’s change log.

Free and premium versions available

All of this comes at a cost. WP White Security employs a team of people who not only carry out research and develop the plugins but are there to support you. To ensure the plugin remains feasible and sustainable, we are releasing a free version and a premium version.

We want to be clear about what these changes might mean to you.

Under the previous ownership, certain premium features were also made available under the free version by mistake, including support for third-party plugins. This bug/oversight has now been rectified.

Breaking change

To ensure the plugin remains sustainable and can continue to grow, support for third-party plugins will once again be a premium feature (refer to the CAPTCHA plugin features for more information), just as was originally intended. While we understand that this might be upsetting to some, we have to ensure fairness and sustainability for our customers and plugin.

If you have been affected by this change (i.e. you were using the free edition of the plugin to add CAPTCHA to forms by third party plugins) we will give you a 90-day unlimited-sites license. We are doing this to give enough time to decide on what you want to do and use in terms of CAPTCHA solution for our website, without disrupting your website operations.

Already a premium customer? You’re going to want to read this…

Transparency and fairness are important to us. As such, we are offering all of our Advanced noCaptcha & invisible Captcha (v2 & v3) premium customers who paid for a license between the 10th of September 2021 and 19th of January 2022 three free months, which will be added to their current license. If this applies to you, all you need to do is reach out to us, and we will take care of the rest.

Our doors are always open

If you’re new to CAPTCHA plugins, or have previously tried the plugin but thought it’s not for you, we would like to invite you to try the free or premium edition of the new and improved CAPTCHA 4WP.

We would also appreciate any feedback that you might have. We love talking to our customers (seriously awesome people, honestly) and are always willing to listen to anything that you might have to say. So why not drop us a line?

While we hope that you remain on this journey with us and continue to give us the opportunity to make your WordPress website safer, we would also like to thank you for your support – without you; this journey would not have been possible. For more information about the plugin, refer to the CAPTCHA 4WP plugin page.
