Update 7.4.1

Date: 1st February 2024

This update features an updated Freemius SDK, a number of UI improvements (text and spacing between options etc), and support to the new and upcoming premium plans that will be announced later on.

Update 7.4.0

Date: 20th December 2023

In this update of CAPTCHA 4WP we mainly focused on adding out of the box support for more third party plugins, and applied generic improvements to the plugin to improve the user experience (UX).

Better support for third party plugins

With CAPTCHA 4WP you can now add CAPTCHA checks from Google reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile and hCAPTCHA to forms built with any of the below plugins, with just a mouse click or a simple drag and drop.

Other improvements

In this update we have also included a good number of improvements and fixes to the mechanism and logic of the Google reCAPTCHA v3 to v2 failover system. As this solution grows in popularity, it is being used with many other third-party plugins, so in this update we focused on tweaking this so it works flawlessly with more plugins.

We have also fixed a number of computability issues with BuddyPress, WPForms Contact Form 7 and other plugins, and also included a number of PHP 8.2 compatibility fixes.

Update 7.3.1

Date: 14th August 2023

This is a maintenance and followup update to version 7.3.0, mainly including some minor improvements and addresses two bugs.

Update 7.3.0

This update makes CAPTCHA 4WP the first and only plugin to support multiple CAPTCHA service providers integrations! It also features several functionality improvements and bug fixes, making for a very flexible WordPress CAPTCHA solution that runs as smooth as butter.

Integration with new CAPTCHA methods and services

In this update we added hCaptcha and Cloudflare Turnstile to the list of available CAPTCHA methods, giving customers more flexibility in which type of CAPTCHA service they want to use on their WordPress website. All three available methods can be configured through easy-to-use wizards, which now feature improved help text and validation mechanisms for stress-free configurations.

Other plugin improvements

We have also made improvements to the UI and UX of the plugin, alongside improvements to the licensing and activation processes on multisite networks. Code has also been refactored for a more solid build and smoother updates.

Update 7.2.0

This version adds some very useful features and a number of improvements and bug fixes that’ll surely make it a great upgrade for anyone running this plugin – and many more reasons to get this plugin for those who aren’t.

ReCAPTCHA V3 fallback

ReCAPTCHA V3 is the latest version of ReCAPTCHA, offering an intrusion-less way to add ReCAPTCHA checks to your WordPress forms. We have now added a fallback mechanism that allows website administrators to define what happens when a check fail, including switching to V2 I’m not a robot or redirecting the visitor to a specific URL. This will help you ensure that no legitimate visitors are unable to proceed due to a false negative.

Configuration wizards

We have also added configuration wizards to take the guesswork out of configuring CAPTCHA checks on your website. We recognize that not everyone is tech-savvy and, as such, have included configuration wizards to help you configure CAPTCHA. Wizards are available for first-time setup and reconfiguration.

Improvements

We have also made numerous improvements to the look and feel of the plugin, making it more intuitive and easy to use. Other improvements in this version include improvements to the core code and JS improvements.

Bug fixes

Version 7.2.0 includes a number of bug fixes, allowing for better compatibility with 3rd party plugins such as ContactForm 7, BuddyPress, and WPForms.

Update 7.1.0

This release features some highly-requested new features alongside a number of improvements to help administrators and website owners ensure the success of CAPTCHA deployments on WordPress websites when using CAPTCHA 4WP.

Out-of-the-box support for CAPTCHA on Gravity Forms & WPForms

CAPTCHA 4WP now comes with out-of-the-box support for Gravity Forms and WPForms, in addition to Contact Form 7, which continues to be supported. With this update. Gravity Forms and WPForms users can add CAPTCHA checks at the click of a button to their forms without having to add any code manually.

Other updates and improvements

We have also improved JavaScript handling when integrating CAPTCHA checks with WooCommerce checkout for a more robust implementation. Improvements were also done to the inline help text for a smoother user experience, along with several other improvements reported by plugin users.

We have also added placement options for the CAPTCHA logo when using ReCAPTCHA version 3 to help you ensure your user experience remains as fluid as possible.

Update 7.0.6 (Premium edition)

Since we acquired CAPTCHA 4WP (previously Advanced noCaptcha & invisible Captcha (v2 & v3)), we set about updating the code and mechanics of the plugin to bring it in line with WP White Security’s standards. In many ways. Version 7.0.0 was the first phase of this endeavor.

What’s new

With many of our customers running successful WooCommerce stores, we wanted to provide more options to ensure smoother eCommerce processes without impacting security. To this end, you can now limit CAPTCHA to the login page and omit it from the checkout form.

Notable improvements

A number of JavaScript and logic improvements have been made to ensure a smoother and more consistent experience throughout, including better integration with plugins such as WooCommerce, Contact Form 7, and BuddyPress.

We have also made several UX improvements, including better inline help text, updated branding, and admin UI improvements. These improvements should make the configuration and administration of the plugin easier and more enjoyable.

Bug fixes

Version 7.0.3 includes a number of bug fixes, which should translate to a butter-smooth experience when using any of the ReCAPTCHA versions. Contact Form 7 is now also backward compatible with previously used tags. At the same time, MailChimp tags will work straight out of the box.

Update 7.0.6 (Free edition)

This latest release includes several improvements and fixes, which enable a smooth-running and stable CAPTCHA plugin for WordPress.

What’s new?

Version 7.0.6 includes a number of UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) improvements specifically designed to make the implementation of CAPTCHA easier than ever before. It also includes all of the fixes and enhancements initially introduced in version 7.0.0, which were rolled back to give more time to users to switch.

Other noteworthy improvements

Following customer feedback, we have addressed a number of bugs and general improvements, offering better WordPress support. Starting with this version, the breaking change announced with the release of version 7.0 also comes into effect.

This version also includes a number of JS (JavaScript) improvements, as well as several fixes for better error handling and redirections.
